AWS Graviton Processor at EC2: Amazon's answer with custom hardware
Ecommerce giant Amazon, one of the partnering projects is the Amazon Web Cloud (AWS); it now competes with its main business. How did it come to this? A brainchild of a company is as big as the market of the parent company. Stock evaluation is not the same as Amazon's e-commerce business, which started in the late '90s, where the cloud business started a few years back.
Today, coping with the demand is so great, it is titled Amazon a computer chip maker. Currently, they are trying to push Graviton 3 processors for cloud servers. In the EC2, the Graviton processors were revealed. The Graviton 3 chips are next-gen custom hardware by Amazon to deliver the best price-performance ratio for cloud workloads.
In the conviction, AWS cloud corp's senior VP Peter DeSantis said, 'modern processors were not well optimised for modern workloads.' It answers many of our questions regarding what we have and our vision for the future of modern cloud business.
Over the first-gen Graviton processors, Graviton 3 delivers a major leap in performance capabilities. Amazon EC2 did not fail to deliver in terms of compute-optimised, memory-optimised, burstable, accelerated computing workloads, including application servers, high-performance computing (HPC), CPU based machine learning (ML), microservices, electronic design automation, video encoding, gaming in-memory caches and open-source database. This may be a lot to take in, but these are some of the features discussed at EC2.
DeSantis and CEO Adam Selipsky threw more flesh around the bone with the upgrades and major changes coming in the playground. The perspective of the computing cloud seems fascinating as the hyperscaling production line is getting a buff. They are revamping how the cloud works, futureproofing the infrastructure right now, giving immense power to the hardware.
AWS was in 2015 acquired Annapurna Labs that initially started working on Graviton and other custom CPUs.

2.6 GHz clock speed
Seven silicon die chipsets
Scalable Vector Extension 256-bit (SVE)
300 GB per sec max memory bandwidth
55 billion transistors or 2:30 billion Graviton
AWS Graviton 3 is the latest addition to the Graviton family with 25 per cent better compute performance and 2x higher floating-point. The processor can 2x cryptographic workload than the previous generation and can deliver up to 3x better performance. The stats here are compared to the Graviton 2- or second-generation processors for server computing. The DDR5 RAM module can achieve 50 per cent more memory bandwidth than current generation DDR4 RAM.
Sever computing is power-hungry, and the clock ticks 24x7. Leveraging power consumption is a massive target for chip designers, and the Graviton 3 will use less than 60 per cent of the previous generation. In papers, it will be a great deal in terms of revenue-generating as this saving was previously used just to put fuel in the tank.
The significant saving on price per performance ratio will help reach AWS reach its true potential and help companies peak their profitability with a lower cost margin.
Microsoft Azure is another name in the game with plans for its ARM-based processors. GCP (Google Cloud Platform) has custom chips that support complete tilted machine learning algorithms. Today, mobile chips from almost every manufacture come pre-built with machine learning compatible CPUs.

Amazon EC2 C7g Instances Powered by AWS Graviton3 Processors came after a year of Graviton 2 announcement. Twelve different Graviton 2 powered instances were made, including X2gd instances designed to handle memory-intensive workloads. AWS Nitro System, Graviton 2 Processors and the successor is meant to update Graviton 3 memory encryption at a whole new level.
