Barracuda launches Entra ID Backup Premium to strengthen Microsoft Identity protection

Cybersecurity company Barracuda Networks has launched Entra ID Backup Premium, a new SaaS solution aimed at protecting critical Microsoft Entra ID environments from data loss caused by cyberattacks or human error. The product, announced today, promises fast recovery, deep visibility, and scalable protection for organizations relying on Microsoft's cloud identity and access management platform.

The launch addresses a growing security concern in that Microsoft only retains Entra ID data for 30 days, leaving organizations vulnerable to long-term identity data loss. Barracuda’s new offering fills that gap with long-term, automated backups and rapid restore capabilities, helping businesses maintain secure access to vital services in the event of a breach or accidental deletion.

Built for single and multi-tenant environments, Entra ID Backup Premium integrates natively with the BarracudaONE platform, offering centralized monitoring and management. IT teams and managed service providers (MSPs) can view backup status, data health, and storage insights from a single dashboard.

The service protects 13 core identity components, including:

• Users and groups

• Administrative units

• App registrations

• Authentication and access policies

• Audit logs and BitLocker keys

• Device configurations and RBAC roles

This breadth of coverage is designed to ensure organizations can recover and maintain full operational continuity, even after targeted identity attacks or misconfigurations.

Entra ID Backup Premium is now available worldwide through Barracuda’s partner ecosystem of resellers and MSPs. It can be purchased as a standalone solution or bundled with Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup for broader protection across the Microsoft 365 suite.
