Welcome to our weekly news roundup, where we highlight our week's top stories. We started the week in the world of Cybersecurity as a recent study found that a malware campaign known as HiddenAds had been running since at least June 2019, with seventy-five percent of its ads being malicious in some way. HiddenAds discovered four Android apps released by the same developer to direct victims to malicious websites as part of an adware and information-stealing campaign.


Also, in the world of Cybersecurity, an analyst at Cofense decided to track gift cards across 54 active Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks to see how they were being used. Analysts expressed surprise at how quickly scammers transferred money; every card they used was stolen, resold, and used for purchases within 24 hours.

We also further discussed the virtual payments giant Visa is adopting Web3 as it seeks to lead itself from rivals like Mastercard and PayPal. Visa has already established a reputation for seeking to capture a portion of the digital asset market by forming alliances. Payments corporations are becoming increasingly supportive of Web3 and are contributing their part to adopting virtual currencies.
