WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram outage caused chaos, as the apps went down for over six hours

Early on Monday, the platforms crashed with users not able to refresh their news feeds or send or receive any messages. The unexpected outage was blamed on networking issues, with users experiencing 'connecting' issues while trying to use their apps. This was a worldwide issue and not just concentrating on a single country. This is almost a repeat of the three outage with the three apps in April 2019.

Problems with apps were reported around the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Russia and the USA.

On Twitter, not affected by the outage, Facebook Engineering wrote, "To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we're sorry.

We've been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us."

People logging onto third party applications using their Facebook credentials to log in were also faced with these issues. At this time it is not clear what exactly happened, whether it was an internal issue or even a case of sabotage. People were relying on their Twitter accounts to communicate while the problems persisted but things now seem to be getting back to normal.
