Arctic Wolf expands platform with shadow AI discovery and broader security integrations
Cybersecurity leader Arctic Wolf has unveiled major expansions to its flagship Aurora Superintelligence Platform at its 2026 Security Operations Summit, introducing Shadow AI Discovery alongside broader ecosystem integrations. The additions are engineered to give security teams unified visibility into unsanctioned generative AI applications across corporate networks while consolidating data feeds from key infrastructure partners like Veeam into a single operations engine.

The platform enhancements address accelerating risks associated with rapid generative AI adoption, where unvetted employee usage creates severe compliance and data-leakage vulnerabilities.
Shadow AI Discovery and AI Governance Automation
According to research from the Cloud Security Alliance, 98% of organizations have experienced unsanctioned AI usage. Arctic Wolf’s new Shadow AI Discovery feature targets this blind spot by synthesizing telemetry across network, endpoint, and identity layers to continuously inventory both sanctioned and unauthorized AI tools.
Key operational and technical features built into the module include:
Zero-Deployment Visibility: Leverages existing Arctic Wolf Managed Detection and Response (MDR) sensors to identify and classify AI tool usage without requiring additional software agents or endpoint footprint additions.
Data-Exposure Risk Mapping: Analyzes network traffic patterns and identity interactions to flag potential corporate data exposure, helping security managers determine whether data governance policies are being breached.
Integrated Security Awareness Training: Connects directly with Aurora Security Awareness, allowing administrators to automatically assign targeted AI safety modules to employees flagged for using unsanctioned tools.
Transparency Tools and Extended Natural-Language Skills
Alongside shadow AI tracking, Arctic Wolf introduced SwarmView and enhanced capabilities within its natural-language Aurora Security Assistant, improving transparency into how agentic AI models triage threats.
SwarmView Investigation Tracing: Provides security analysts with visual, step-by-step visibility into how autonomous AI agents analyze telemetry, weigh threat intelligence, and reach investigative conclusions.
Natural-Language Security Queries: Expands the Aurora Security Assistant with direct access to Aurora Exposure Management, Threat Intelligence, and Security Posture In-Depth Reviews (SPiDR), allowing analysts to instantly query unpatched vulnerabilities and prioritized posture recommendations using plain-language prompts.
Strategic Infrastructure Partnerships and Market Positioning
To deepen cross-stack visibility, Arctic Wolf finalized an operational partnership with backup giant Veeam, bringing data protection and recovery telemetry directly into the Aurora platform. The integration enables security operations center (SOC) analysts to correlate ransomware detection events with backup integrity states to accelerate incident recovery workflows.
By combining shadow AI discovery, agentic transparency, and expanded backup telemetry, Arctic Wolf reinforces its managed security platform, helping channel partners and enterprise security teams defend against AI-era threats without expanding operational complexity.
