WatchGuard and Halo partner to automate MSP workflows from "Alert to Invoice"

WatchGuard Technologies and Halo have announced a strategic partnership and deep integration aimed at solving the "operational friction" that plagues managed service providers (MSPs). By linking WatchGuard Cloud with HaloPSA, the two companies are providing a unified workflow that automates the entire lifecycle of a security incident, from the initial threat detection to the final client invoice.

The integration, announced on April 14, 2026, arrives at a time when MSPs are struggling to manage increasingly complex security stacks without significantly increasing their technician headcount.

Embedding security into the "operating layer"

HaloPSA has become the central operating system for thousands of service providers, managing their help desks, contracts, and billing. This partnership embeds WatchGuard’s unified security portfolio, including network, endpoint, identity, and MDR capabilities, directly into that interface.

  • Unified visibility: Technicians can now view device information, license data, and security events within HaloPSA, eliminating the need to "swivel-chair" between multiple management consoles.

  • Closed-loop ticketing: Security alerts and license signals from WatchGuard Cloud now trigger automated, deduplicated tickets in HaloPSA. These tickets automatically route to the correct team, update as threat conditions change, and close once the issue is resolved.

  • Automated provisioning: The link allows for seamless service provisioning, ensuring that when a security service is activated, it is immediately reflected in the customer’s management profile.

Solving the "billing leakage" problem

One of the most significant pain points for MSPs is ensuring that what they secure is actually what they bill for. Manual tracking of license counts and device deployments often leads to "billing leakage" or discrepancies.

  • Asset synchronization: WatchGuard Fireboxes, Wi-Fi access points, and endpoint agents now sync directly into HaloPSA configurations with real-time serial numbers and firmware versions.

  • Contract alignment: Verified entitlement data ensures that recurring billing stays perfectly aligned with actual usage across AuthPoint (MFA), ThreatSync (XDR), and endpoint security tiers.

  • Profitability tracking: By placing operational data alongside contract costs, MSP owners can more accurately track the true profitability of their security offerings.

Efficiency by the numbers

Citing research from the Service Desk Institute (SDI), WatchGuard noted that this type of automation can reduce ticket volumes by an average of 30%. For an MSP managing thousands of seats, this represents a massive recovery of billable time and a significant reduction in technician burnout.

"MSPs need security operations that fit the way they work, inside the PSA, with accurate context and minimal manual effort," said Ben Oster, VP of Product Development at WatchGuard. "Our relationship with Halo means MSPs move faster and offer stronger security with WatchGuard embedded inside the PSA they love."

The partnership follows WatchGuard’s recent overhaul of its endpoint security pricing and its aggressive expansion of AI-driven automation. As the "cybersecurity opportunity" grows for service providers, the ability to scale without adding operational complexity is becoming the primary differentiator in the market.
